Philadelphia’s was originally opened on Milwaukie Ave where Papa Murphy’s is currently located. After 5 ½ years of patronage by loyal Sellwood-Moreland customers, Philadelphia’s moved to it’s current location just a bit north on Milwaukie Ave.
Philadelphia’s also has a notable selection of freshly brewed ales, created by brewmaster Aram Ansell. Some of the regulars include Betsy Ross Golden Ale, Independence Pale Ale (IPA), Rocky Red, Spectrum Amber, and Ben Franklin Brown. Occasional seasonal ales can be found and have included an award winning Belgian Double. Look for this year’s version to be on tap in March.

Gluten-Free Update This has been a highly educational process. I thought the big challenge would be obtaining a gluten free crust but when we got that all taken care of and reviewed all our other toppings, we discovered our cheese contained trace barley gluten. We have found that most companies offering "Gluten Free" pizza in this market truly are not in that their cheese contains barley gluten and that is not being disclosed to customers.
It is easy to offer wheat gluten free products but people with true gluten intolerance are vulnerable to wheat, barley and other grain gluten. We want to do it right and serve our gluten intolerant customer honestly.
We have received a great gluten free mozzarella that has met our standards and have found all our toppings with the exception of our Chicken Breast to be gluten free.
To minimize cross contamination, we will be cooking our gluten free pizzas on different screens than our other pizzas, we are converting from wheat flour to rice flour for dusting in our stores, we will be using a different cutter and pizza peel and of course will train our staff on the importance of hand washing even more than usual when going from Wheat based crusts to gluten free crusts.
We will be looking at receiving our first gluten free crusts the week of October 1 and plan to roll out the entire product as soon as we receive the crusts. We appreciate your understanding!!
